Things you've unearthed in lock down
In between getting my garden ready for next years Chelsea flower show, with all this time on my hands also gone through boxes in cupboards that haven't been touched for 30 years and come across...

My old Cubs uniform that I'd completely forgotten I had, with distinctly less badges on the arm than I seem to remember

And one of those split West Ham/Celtic ski hats from the 80s that I'd also completely forgotten

What's anyone else found in the last few weeks?

No, I remember it being pretty pricey when they first opened that airport as (as you said) you do have to fly from SA.

Titan Airways are looking to fly their from Stansted via a stop over though, so maybe it will get cheaper.

Lee, I'd love to, have you priced it out?

I think you have to fly to South Africa and get a smaller plane to the island, I feel it might be out of my price range?

Nurse, I say a couple of cousins but it's the husband who I'm related to, his partner would be a cousin in law if there's such a thing?

Will you be flying to St Helena, FC?

As you know, it's somewhere I'd love to go to.

Found myself a couple of cousins I didn't know I had, Facebook, yep Facebook can be of some good, I'm in a group called St Helena, some of you may have heard of it as the place where Napoleon was finally exiled, when another poster who noticed my kind of unusual name and asked if I knew of someone she mentioned? then it all snowballed from there.

Gonna meet up with them when this shit is all over

:-)

Three external Hard Drives, still working, containing thousands of Jpg files of my kids, holidays, workmates, places I'd forgotten, etc
Huge trip down memory lane but weeks of sorting them into order.

The gs in quagga should be pronounced Dutch-style, more quah-ha than quag-ga.

Been well worth the disruption to learn this.

I've got a cellar. There's no wine in it, just a couple of bikes, some smokeless fuel, and an old bag of cement gone hard

Re: Things you've unearthed in lock down
You made all that up just to pretend you have a cellar?

Do you want to buy a never used fruit blender?

Re: Things you've unearthed in lock down
My wife bought a case of 2009 Bordeaux in a dodgy auction in 2012. We tried it and it was astringent and needed breathing for two days just to make it palatable. Anyway, I dug one out from the cellar and opened it and it was pretty good. Not in any way exception but excellent with pasta. Funny old World.

I’ve just discovered a bottle of Ouzo in the depths of the dreaded corner cupboard.

It’s basically paint stripper, right?

My favourites are Japanese Maple trees. Have five in the garden (two are going to be biggies) and two in pots.
Giving Dahlias a go this year, have three beds (black, red and orange theme) and have found some for each.
Roses are also really good. Got one last year called "For your eye only" and it really worked. Has tons of flower buds already this year.

Not familiar with those two, but then my naming of flowers by sight can be counted in single fingers.

do like cornflowers thought, they look like they could get blown down by a cat sneezing, but then stand up to proper strong winds that knock more robust plants and flowers for 6. Then they've got those real delicate, natural colours....Christ, it's all coming out now....

Why can gardeners get away with waving their (plants') sexual organs around?

Even the most buttoned up religios give them carte blanche...

Corn flowers are beautiful, but I have a serious thing for pompon and ball dahlias.
